Fellows from the Program on Philanthropy and the Nonprofit Sector were required to take part in a dissertation workshop sponsored by the SSRC each year. The workshops were an integral part of the fellowship program and its goal of fostering the development of a cohort of young scholars who are aware of, and interested in, each other’s work. The workshops are an important way for fellows to connect their projects to larger issues facing their field as well as a means to help fellows reflect on their research in a relaxed, multi-disciplinary setting.

The annual dissertation workshop provided an opportunity for fellows to give brief, informal presentations of their aims, methodology and status of their projects to a cohort of colleagues and selected faculty.
