The Working Group has sponsored eight grant competitions through which it has supported: travel by Cuban scholars to significant international meetings; incipient institutional collaborations or collaborative research projects; publication or translation of work by Cuban researchers; and libraries, museums, archives and other repositories of scholarly information in Cuba. (Grants awarded at Working Group meetings in September, 1998; February, 1999; September, 1999; February, 2000; February, 2001; November, 2001; October, 2002 and February, 2004. In exceptional circumstances, grants have been awarded between competitions.)

There are currently no plans to hold another small grants competition.
